Support a ban on landmines and cluster munitions!
"Every mine victim urges us to intensify our efforts in mine clearing and victim assistance. In Germany, in addition to these, we must also stop the production of mines. We must not lessen our efforts in either of these areas."

Please send this letter to European companies involved in the landmine business

The letter as Winword-Document (22k)

Dear Madam/Sir

In the specialist military literature your company is mentioned as a past/present producer of landmine technology. In view of more than 20,000 mine-victims we have to mourn year by year this must be stopped.

Otherwise the humanitarian catastrophe caused by landmines will not end. Do you really want to be partly responsible for this. For the sake of mine victims please stop immediately the development, production and export of landmine technology*.

Herewith I support the 5 main demands of the German Initiative to Ban Landmines

The five demands of the German Initiative to Ban Landmines are:

1) A worldwide prohibition on the development, production, export (including technology transfers) and employment of all types of landmines.

2) Disclosure of all landmine related R&D projects, landmine exports, military landmine warfare plans, landmine stockpiles, including those of exterritorial armies.

3) The verified destruction of all existing landmines.

4) Diversion of national budgets used for developing and procuring all landmine and minelaying technologies to rehabilitating and compensating mine victims.

5) Comprehensive support for mine clearing operations under the control of the UN and relevant humanitarian organizations, for instance by financing a mine clearing fund.

*All types of mines, submunition mines, minelaying systems, directional fargmentation charges, components of mines (fuses, explosives, sensors, antihandling devices, etc.) and components of minelaying systems.
