2 soldiers wounded in Doda blast (INDIA)
Srinagar: An informer was killed and two soldiers wounded in separate incidents across the State since Saturday night, police and reports said Sunday.
Police said militants shot dead a suspected informer of the troops in north Kashmir's Varmul district on Sunday.
The assailants fired upon Qasim Iqbal Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh at Dragbal. He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased was believed to be working with troops and had been in the hit list of militants, a local news agency said.
Police said two soldiers were wounded in a grenade blast in Doda district of Jammu on Saturday night.
The incident occurred when militants hurled a grenade on troops at Astangam Marwah. The grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road wounding two soldiers.
The militants however escaped from the spot. Troops launched a search operation in the incident immediately after the incident.
Troops claimed recovery of eight hand grenades, two anti-tank mines, two rocket launchers, two remote control devices and 338 rounds of ammunition from a hideout during a search operation at Kathua district of Jammu Saturday night.
