5 armed militants held (INDIA)

VISAKHAPATNAM: Rural police arrested five armed members of the Maoist party near Pedapadu village in G K Veedhi mandal on Sunday.


The militants of Galikonda Area Committee were nabbed when they were trying to plant
landmines in the Pedapadu-Nakkabanda forest areas.

Police recovered two steel carriage landmines, five gelatine sticks and fuse wire. The
arrested rebels were identified as Pangi Balaraju (30), Marri Rupa (32), Killo Rajanna (38),
Pangi Venkata Rao (22) and Korra Subba Rao (35) of Pedapadu village.

However, sources said the five ultras were taken into custody by the police for giving shelter
to Galikonda platoon section commander Lambaiah five days ago. Police also recovered a
TV and a DVD player from Balaraju.
