ANA soldier dead, three wounded in clash (AFGHANISTAN)

KANDAHAR CITY, May 2 (Pajhwok Afghan News): An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was killed and three others wounded in a firefight with Taliban in the southern Uruzgan province.


Commander of the 205 Atal Military Corps Major General Rahmatullah Raufi told Pajhwok Afghan News on Tuesday the clash took place in an area between the provincial capital of Tirinkot and Chora district.
He said exchange of fire continued for about four hours after which the militants fled the scene. Raufi said although they had found no dead body at the scene, stains of blood showed that the other party had suffered casualties.
A day earlier, the Afghan and coalition forces had killed four Taliban fighters in the Chora district following a clash.
Meanwhile, a police party narrowly escaped a remote-controlled bomb blast in the Andar district of the southern Ghazni province.
Provincial intelligence chief Wakil Kamyab told Pajhwok Afghan News the police personnel remained unhurt. He said the mine went off seconds after the fast moving police vehicle passed.
