ANAMA Completes Clearing Of Mines From Lands Along Oil And Gas Pipelines
(AZERBAIJAN) 6 July 2010 - During June 2010, an area of 2,245,923 square meters was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.
A total of 4,372 mines and shells, 21 anti-tank mines, and one antipersonnel mine was found. The work involved 425 specialists and 115 auxiliary personnel. The total area of the country cleared of mines has reached 135,426,941 square meters, and a total of 618,077 mines and shells have been found. Work has been carried out in Terter, Aghdam, Agstafa, and Gedabek regions, and in Baku's Garadag district. Under BP Azerbaijan's order, Anama cleared military ordnance from 5,000 square meters of territory along the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Supsa, and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines. No mines have been exploded this year.
