Benguela: Red Cross Upgrades Activists On Landmine Risks


About four activists have been upgraded at the weekend on the risks of landmines by the Angolan Red Cross (CVA) at Chongoroi municipality, 150 km of Benguela city.

The two-day seminar, meant to capacitate the activists in gathering of information concerning the detection of areas possessing landmines, as well as the identification of problems for the prevention of mine-related accidents.

During the meeting, the participants obtained knowledge on mobilisation of community, discovery of people in landmines` risk and the solution of problem involving community leaders

According to CVA co-ordinator of programme on landmines risks in Benguela, António Jongo, in last July there had been trained at least 20 activists by his institution in the districts of Ganda, Cubal and Caimbambo.
