Demining Commission to Implement Statistics Projects(ANGOLA)

LUANDA, 1 September 2009 (All Africa) -- The first phase for statistics assessment of landmines victims in Angola starts in september, the acting coordinator of the sub-commission for assistance of landmines victims, Elsa Neto, disclosed today.


The project launched by the National Inter-sectorial Commission on Demining and Humanitarian Assistance aims to know the real number of landmine victims in Angola and their life conditions to facilitate the implementation of the full reintegration programs.

"The project aims at gathering and updating the data of landmine victims all over the country. By now we have already taken some steps and the first stage will be of assessment in Namib province" - she said stating that, up to now, the institution work has been grounded on estimates of landmine victims.
