Dist chief escapes, two killed in landmine explosion (Afghanistan)


KANDAHAR CITY. A senior official escaped unhurt while his two bodyguards killed in a roadside explosion in the southern Kandahar province on Saturday.

Chief of the Mianashin district Shadi Khan was on way to his office when his vehicle hit a roadside landmine. Two of his bodyguards died while eight others suffered injuries in the explosion.

Daud Ahmadi, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place around 9am. He said the bomb was planted by enemies of the country, the term Afghan officials use for Taliban.
