District chief among two killed in Kandahar blast (AFGHANISTAN)
KANDAHAR CITY : A district chief was killed along with a tribal elder as their vehicle hit a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) in southern Kandahar province on Wednesday.
A senior police officer told Pajhwok Afghan News the roadside bomb hit the car of Registan district chief Majeed Baloch on the outskirts of the district this morning.
Baloch and tribal elder Haji Qadir were killed in the explosion that wounded their companion Lal Mohammad, said, Gen. Ghulam Ali Wahdat. He blamed militants for planting the landmine.
Wahdat said the incident was under investigation but no one had been detained so far in connection with the blast that came a day ahead of the presidential and provincial council elections.
