HELMAND - A British soldier was killed by insurgent gunfire in Gereshk, Helmand province, around 530 km (330 miles) southwest of Kabul, on Monday, the British Defence Ministry said. * URUZGAN - Two insurgents were killed when the roadside bomb they were planting exploded in Deh Rawood district of Uruzgan province, around 400 km (250 miles) southwest of Kabul, the U.S. military said.

* PAKTIA - One civilian was killed and two others wounded when their car hit a landmine in Paktia province, around 110 km (70 miles) south of Kabul, on Monday, the Interior Ministry said. (Compiled by Jonathon Burch; Editing by David Fox)
