Four landmines recovered in Paktia


Security officials in the southern Paktia province unearthed and defused four landmines planted by the roadside near a market in the Samkani district, officials said.

The mines were freshly planted in the area, said Ghulam Nabi Salem, Paktia deputy police chief, adding these were recovered after police received a tip off about the explosive devices.

The police chief said a US base was also existed in the same district and the coalition soldiers usually patrolling the area. He said no one had been arrested thus far; however, efforts had been mounted to capture the culprits.
