Government troops raided on Friday an encampment of around 30 communist rebels of the New People's Army (NPA) in Sitio Agpan, Bunawan Brock, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.

Caraga Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Antonio Dator Nañas claimed the communist rebels were headed by a certain Ka Wako/Bong.

Firefight lasted for 45 minutes, which resulted in the wounding of undetermined number of rebels as traces of bloodstains were seen in their escape route, according to military reports.

The military recovered one M-14 armalite rifle, one Springfield sniper rifle, two units claymore mines, 200 meters detonating cords, one piece imported smoke grenade, jungle packs with bloodstains, two units gas stoves, one roll electric wire, medical paraphernalia and subversive documents.

An ongoing pursuit operation was launched against the fleeing rebels.

No casualties were reported from the government side. (PNA)
