Marine Police Recover 123 Bombs In Johor Waters
JOHOR BAHARU, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- The Southern Region Marine Police found 123 bombs in the waters off Kampung Danga, Tampoi, here last Thursday.
The bombs were removed from four locations in the waters after two Orang Asli, Tini Engkbi and Riduan Kais, stumbled upon them, Southern Region Marine Police chief ACP Kamal Bakri Medan said Wednesday.
On the first day of operation last Sunday, three cluster bombs were retrieved off Teluk Anak Datuk, Sungai Melayu, at 2.15pm and kept at the marine police armoury in Tampoi, he said in a statement.
The following day, marine police divers assisted by a naval diving unit from KD Dugong, Kuantan, and another from Lumut, scoured the four identified areas for the bombs.
Kamal said 16 more bombs were retrieved off Sungai Melayu and 104 bombs off Tanjung Setajam. No bomb was found at the other two locations.
The operations involved three marine police boats and a naval boat.
