Militants bomb ex-minister's house, killing one in India


Militants have blown up the house of a former minister of east India's Orissa Pradesh killing one civilian, Indo-Asian News Service reported Thursday. After overpowering the eight policemen guarding the house, the militants looted their guns and ammunition and blasted the house by landmine, said the police.

Militants have blown up the house of a former minister of east India's Orissa Pradesh killing one civilian, Indo-Asian News Service reported Thursday.

About 150 armed militants stormed the house of former State Cooperation Minister Arabinda Dhali in Malkangiri District in southern Orissa Wednesday evening, the district police said.

A villager was killed in the crossfire between the militants and the police while no one stayed inside the house.

After overpowering the eight policemen guarding the house, the militants looted their guns and ammunition and blasted the house by landmine, said the police.

Militants have taken over several villages along the border of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa states and kept attacking policemen and landlords.
