Moldova to send another group of servicemen to Iraq (MOLDOVA)
Moldova will soon send another group of servicemen to Iraq, Defense Minister Valeriu Plesca told a Friday press conference on the Moldovan army anniversary.
He said the parliament would set the departure date at the autumnal session.
"Moldovan servicemen in Iraq are involved exclusively in peaceful operations ' they are demining strategic facilities, which is necessary for the reconstruction of Iraq," the minister said.
Thirty-four Moldovan servicemen are taking part in the Cooperative Key exercises in Bulgaria under the NATO Partnership for Peace program. About ten Moldovan officers are military observers in the UN peacekeeping operations in Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire, Sudan and some other countries.
