Norway destroys cluster weapons (Norway)
Image After several years of campaigning against the use of cluster weapons, Norway has destroyed the first batch of its cluster bombs in an underground blast in an old mine shaft in Soer-Troendelag.
Last December 125 nations met in Oslo and ratified the agreement to destroy all their cluster weapons within eight years. The agreement bans all use, production, storage and export of cluster ammunition.
Norway plans to destroy all its 52,000 cluster grenades by June 2010.
