Rumsfeld Concludes VIETNAM Visit


The head of the Pentagon, Donald Rumsfeld, and th Vietnamese Minister of Defense Pham Van Tra signed important agreements for the Asian country, including military medicine and defusing all mines, aimed at eliminating the effects of the US 1964-1973 invasion.

Hanoi, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) Reeling in a domestic political crisis, the head of the Pentagon, Donald Rumsfeld, concluded his visit to Vietnam on Tuesday and headed for Indonesia, as part of a Southeast Asia tour.

Rumsfeld´s visit to Hanoi is in return for the Vietnamese Minister of Defense Pham Van Tra´s visit to Washington in November, 2003.

On that visit, the two officials signed important agreements for the Asian country, including military medicine and defusing all mines, aimed at eliminating the effects of the US 1964-1973 invasion.

Local press revealed that Rumsfeld was welcomed on a courtesy visit by Primer Minister Phan Van Khai.
Addressing CNN, US senator Joseph Biden suggested the replacement of the head of the Pentagon if the investigation on the alleged massacre of 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq, proves the US troops are responsible for that killing.
