Shots fired at state buildings in Sirnak (Turkey)

In the province of Van, security forces destroyed two mortars found near the town of Baskale.


SIRNAK - Unidentified attackers, opened fire on state buildings in the south eastern Turkish province of Sirnak Monday, causing minor damage but no casualties.

According to the office of the governor of Sirnak, an estimated four terrorists opened harassing gunfire both the living quarters of staff employed by public institutions and a police checkpoint.

The terrorists fled when security forces returned fire, the statement said.

In another incident in Sirnak, security forces defused two land mines placed by the terrorist group the PKK on a road in the region. Another anti-personnel mine exploded killing ten sheep.
