Six Innocent Civilians among Injured in LTTE Claymore Explosion


VAVUNIYA: LTTE TERRORISTS detonated a claymore mine at SANASA junction, on the station road, VAVUNIYA during rush hours at about 4.40 p.m.

The claymore mine had been fixed on a pushbike placed near a wayside shop in the densely populated area.

Two Police personnel, two Civil Defence Force (CDF) members and six civilians were injured in the explosion.

One woman, Police and CDF personnel injured in the explosion were transferred to ANURADHAPURA hospital for further treatment.

Army and Police combined search operations commenced in the area.

The VAVUNIYA Police are conducing further investigations.
