Helmand police chief Brig. Gen. Muhammad Hussain Andiwal told Pajhwok on Tuesday three soldiers were killed and two others sustained injuries when their vehicle hit a landmine in Grishk district last evening.

The military personnel were on way from the Band-i-Barq area to the centre of the district, said the police chief.

Qari Yousaf, calling himself spokesman for the militants, said more than six soldiers were perished in the explosion.

Eleven soldiers, including a commander, were injured in another such blast in Barmal district of the southeastern Paktika province.

A military officer Col. Raz Muhammad Wardak told Pajhwok the injured had been shifted to hospital and their condition was stable.

Claiming responsibility, self-proclaimed Taliban spokesman Zabeehullah Mujahid said 15 ANA soldiers had been killed and injured in the blast.
