Three Maoists arrested (India)


VISAKHAPATNAM: The police arrested three Maoists-P Sanyasi Padal, K Govindu and K Sanyasi Rao-at Kannerisalama village in G K Veedhi Mandal of the district and seized two land mines and fuse wire from them.

They were arrested by the police shortly after the latter's brush with death in a land mine blast during combing operations near Kannerisalama a couple of days ago.

The police were detecting land mines when one of them exploded. However, there were no casualties. A short while after the blast, police arrested the Maoists when they were moving in the area under suspicious circumstances.

On questioning, the Maoists admitted that they were entrusted with the job of eliminating the police, by Korukonda dalam of CPI (Maoist). Padal and Sanyasi Rao are active members of Adivasi Viplava Rythu Coolie Sangham. The Maoists were sent to Narsipatnam sub-jail.
