Three perish in mine explosion (Afghanistan)


KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok Afghan News): Three terrorists Saturday killed while planting landmines in Yakhchal area of Lashkargah, capital of the southern Helmand province, security official said.

The militants wanted to plant mines on Kandahar-Herat Highway, but the landmines blasted pre-maturely. Ghulam Muhaiudin, spokesman for governor of Kandahar, told Pajhwok Afghan News three terrorists were killed in the blast.

Confirming the incident, provincial police chief Gen Ghulam Nabi Mallahkhel said the victims of the blast were Afghan nationals, but he would not give more details about them. He blamed enemies of the country, euphemism used by the officials for the blast.
