US tank blown up in southern Afghanistan, no casualties (AFGHANISTAN)
A US military tank was blown up after a convoy of troops hit a roadside landmine in Orgun District of the southern Paktika Province, a well-placed source said on Wednesday.
Seeking not to be named, a foreign official at the joint US-Afghan base in Paktika told Pajhwok Afghan News the American forces were on a patrol when their vehicle was damaged by the mine explosion.
The source added no one was injured or killed in the blast. Eyewitness driver Gul Agha told Pajhwok Afghan News the US troops came under gunfire immediately after the blast.
According to the driver, the assailants fled the area after the American soldiers returned fire. He would not conjecture about casualties in the shoot-out.
