DRC expected to be free of landmines within 5 years

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is expected to be free of landmines within four or five years according to the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
However, as fighting continues to flare up in the conflict-ridden east of the country, the problem of unexploded ordinance is set to continue.
UNMAS is responsible for coordinating the UN response to landmines and explosive remnants of war in the DRC.
Pascal Simon, UNMAS programme manger in Kinshasa, the capital of the country has been speaking to Daniel Dickinson about the critical role UNMAS plays.
